Getting to Tokyo Disney Resort: Airport Transfer Guide
Tokyo Disney Resort Is Not in Tokyo
This catches a surprising number of visitors off guard. Tokyo Disneyland (TDL) and Tokyo DisneySea (TDS) are located in Urayasu City, Chiba Prefecture — east of central Tokyo, on the shore of Tokyo Bay. The "Tokyo" in the name is aspirational, not geographical.
Why does this matter for your airport transfer? Because the route from Narita or Haneda to Disney Resort is different from the route to central Tokyo. The station you need (Maihama) is on a separate line. The buses that go to Shinjuku don't go to Disney. And if you're traveling with kids, strollers, and suitcases, every extra transfer counts.
Your Options: Narita Airport to Tokyo Disney Resort
Option 1: Train (JR Narita Express + Transfer)
Take the Narita Express (N'EX) to Tokyo Station (~60 minutes, ~¥3,250), then transfer to the JR Keiyo Line to Maihama Station (~15 minutes, ~¥230). Total: about 80-90 minutes if connections go smoothly.
The reality with kids: Tokyo Station is enormous. The transfer from the N'EX platform to the Keiyo Line involves a 10-15 minute walk through underground corridors — some of the longest in the station. Now picture doing that with a stroller in one hand, a suitcase in the other, and a tired child who just sat through a 10-hour flight. If you miss the Keiyo Line connection, the next train is 10-20 minutes away.
Option 2: Airport Limousine Bus
Direct buses run from Narita to Disney Resort area hotels (~60-90 minutes, ~¥2,600 per adult). No transfers required — a genuine advantage.
The catch: Buses run on fixed schedules, typically every 30-60 minutes. If your flight is delayed or immigration takes longer than expected, you could wait an hour or more for the next bus. Buses also don't drop you at a specific hotel — they stop at designated bus stops within the resort area, meaning you may still need to walk with your luggage. During peak season (spring break, summer, Halloween, Christmas), buses can sell out.
Option 3: Pre-Booked Private Transfer
A private car takes you directly from Narita Airport to your Disney Resort hotel entrance — or as close to the park gates as vehicle access allows. No train transfers, no fixed bus schedule, no walking with luggage.
Your Options: Haneda Airport to Tokyo Disney Resort
Train: Monorail/Keikyu + Transfer
From Haneda, take the Keikyu Line or Tokyo Monorail to connect eventually to the JR Keiyo Line at Tokyo Station, then ride to Maihama. Multiple transfers, 60-80 minutes total. The same underground corridor walk at Tokyo Station applies.
Bus: Airport Limousine
Direct buses from Haneda to Disney (~45-60 minutes, ~¥1,100). Fewer buses than the Narita route, and the same schedule and capacity limitations apply.
Private Transfer
Haneda to Disney is a shorter ride — about 30-40 minutes via the Bayshore Route with light traffic. Door to door, no transfers.
Pricing: Private Transfer to Tokyo Disney Resort
| Route | Alphard (4 pax, 4 luggage) | HiAce (9 pax, 8 luggage) | Approx. Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Narita → Disney Resort | ¥24,000 | ¥28,000 | 50-70 min |
| Haneda → Disney Resort | ¥24,000 | ¥28,000 | 35-55 min |
All prices are fixed at booking. No tolls, no late-night surcharges, no hidden fees. Split between a family of four, that's ¥6,000-7,000 per person from either airport — comparable to combined train fares when you factor in the N'EX and connecting tickets for each family member.
Why Families Choose Private Transfers for Disney
Kids and Luggage Don't Mix with Train Transfers
The biggest argument for a private transfer to Disney isn't luxury — it's logistics. A family of four typically has 2-3 large suitcases, a stroller, backpacks, and at least one child who is either sleeping, crying, or running in the wrong direction. Train transfers at Tokyo Station with this configuration are genuinely stressful.
With a private transfer, your luggage goes in the trunk, the kids go in car seats, and you arrive at your hotel without breaking a sweat.
Child Seats Available
Child seats (infant seat, child seat, or booster) are available for ¥2,000 each. Book in advance so the driver has them installed and ready when you arrive. Japanese law requires child seats for children under 6, and we recommend them for any child under 135 cm. Up to two child seats can be installed per vehicle.
Door-to-Door to Your Disney Hotel
Your driver drops you off right at the entrance of your Disney Resort hotel — whether that's the Disney Ambassador Hotel, Tokyo Disneyland Hotel, Tokyo DisneySea Hotel MiraCosta, or one of the official/partner hotels in the resort area. No shuttle bus from a remote parking lot, no dragging luggage from a bus stop.
Stroller-Friendly
Strollers fold and go in the trunk alongside your suitcases. The Toyota Alphard has enough cargo space for a full-size stroller plus 3-4 large suitcases. If you have a double stroller or extra-large luggage, the HiAce Grand Cabin gives you even more room.
Practical Tips for Disney Transfer Day
Arriving at the Airport
- Flight monitoring: RydAgent monitors your flight automatically. Delays over 20 minutes trigger automatic pickup adjustment
- Free waiting: 1 hour from actual landing time. Take your time through immigration and customs — your driver will be there
- Optional meet & greet: Available for ¥2,000 (subject to airport conditions). Your driver waits in the arrival hall with a name board. Without it, the driver contacts you directly to coordinate pickup at the terminal
In the Vehicle
- Water is OK in the car. No food, please — this keeps the vehicle clean for the next family
- The Alphard seats 4 passengers comfortably with 4 large suitcases in back. If your family has 5+ members, choose the HiAce (up to 9 passengers, 8 suitcases)
- Travel time from Narita is typically 50-70 minutes; from Haneda, 35-55 minutes. Kids often fall asleep — that's a feature, not a bug
Leaving Disney for the Airport
The return trip works the same way. Book a drop-off from your Disney hotel to Narita or Haneda. The driver arrives at your hotel entrance at the scheduled time. Free waiting for drop-off is 30 minutes. Give yourself plenty of buffer for check-in — we recommend scheduling pickup at least 3 hours before your flight for Narita, 2.5 hours for Haneda.
