The Alphard row is deliberately cautious: a rigid case occupies the space of several suitcases and cannot be reshaped, so for two riders with two cases the HiAce is the vehicle even though the Alphard covers the headcount.

Twelve cycling bookings since March 2026, eleven of them in the HiAce. The pattern holds: one case is the difference between the Alphard and the HiAce, and two cases plus suitcases is a comfortable HiAce load — but we still ask for your packed dimensions, because your case is not that customer's case.
Private car, and not because we sell one. The Airport Limousine Bus checks two pieces per passenger within 50 × 60 × 120 cm; a bike case fails the 60 cm side before you reach the counter. The Narita Express and the Skyliner will take a case that is under 250 cm across three sides, but you then carry it and your suitcases through two or three station changes to reach a hotel, and a packed case can measure 260–270 cm — one customer's did — which is over the line JR draws. A sedan taxi's trunk does not take a case at all.

For the airport leg the Shinkansen is irrelevant anyway — neither Narita nor Haneda has a Shinkansen station. It matters for the Tokyo → Kyoto or Tokyo → Nagano leg of a cycling trip, where a compliant bagged bike is genuinely fine on the train.

Where a private car earns its fare with folding bikes is arithmetic and logistics rather than rules: two or three folding bikes plus suitcases exceed the bus's two-piece allowance; a late arrival past the last bus; a hotel that is two transfers from the terminal; or simply not wanting to fold, bag, carry, unbag and unfold at each end. In the Alphard each folded bike counts as one large bag, up to four; in the HiAce, up to nine.
Two packed hard cases plus two suitcases and four carry-ons, with four riders, is a load the HiAce has carried and been paid for — that is a fact, not a promise. Beyond two, or with more suitcases, it depends on your cases, and the honest answer for four riders with a case each is sometimes two vehicles. A rigid case cannot be reshaped to fill a gap the way a duffel can, and a squeezed load is a poor trade against a second van when the most valuable thing in your luggage is the bike.
So the useful thing to send at booking is not a bag count but the three dimensions of each case, packed, plus the number of suitcases. Put it in the notes and you get a straight answer before you pay.
It is a reasonable alternative for a bike that will sit at one hotel for a while, and Japanese forwarding services are excellent for suitcases. For a bike it means the case leaves your sight, a day or more of transit, a hotel front desk willing to receive a 25 kg box, and the same problem in reverse at the end. If you ride within a day of landing, or your route has several bases, the case travelling with you in the van is simpler.
