Flying into Narita and heading straight to Hakone? By train, you'd need to take the Narita Express to Tokyo Station, transfer to the Shinkansen to Odawara, then a bus or taxi to your ryokan — 3+ hours of transfers with luggage. A private car takes you directly from the Narita arrivals gate to your Hakone ryokan in about 2.5 hours, bypassing Tokyo entirely. The route passes through scenic Kanagawa countryside.
