This was such an easy stress free experience. I have taken many airport transfers and this was by far the easiest and most efficient experience I have ever had. The communication was frequent and proactive. I cannot say enough about this company. 100% recommend

Osaka Cruise Port (Tempozan) to Kyoto
~55 min door-to-door — no 2 train transfers with luggage
Private car, just your group — leave Tempozan exactly when you want
Direct to Kyoto, bags loaded for you
One car for the family — Alphard 4+4 or HiAce 9+9
Tempozan, Osaka's main cruise terminal, sits on Osaka Bay on the far side of the city from Kyoto, and there's no direct train or bus between the two. By rail it's a short walk to Osakako Station, the Osaka Metro Chuo Line into central Osaka, then one or more changes onto a Kyoto-bound JR, Hankyu or Keihan train — every cruise suitcase carried through each change — and at the Kyoto end you still need a taxi, a bus or a walk to the hotel itself. With a private car it's a single ride: the driver waits at the pickup point you set at the terminal, your luggage goes into the car once, and you're taken to your hotel or ryokan in Kyoto (for a machiya down a lane too narrow for cars, the driver stops at the nearest spot where a car can legally stop). RydAgent's Tempozan to Kyoto transfer is one fixed price wherever you're staying — near Kyoto Station, in Gion, out in Arashiyama or up in Ohara: ¥32,000 for up to 4 passengers in an Alphard, or ¥35,000 for up to 9 in a HiAce — which takes 9 passengers with 9 large suitcases, so a group of 5–9 rides together instead of splitting across several taxis. Tolls are included. We don't track ships the way we track flights, and free waiting on this transfer is 30 minutes from your booked time, so set the pickup for when you'll actually be out of the terminal with your bags.

Frequently Asked Questions
On this route, usually yes — the train is the cheapest per person (¥900–1,700) but means 2 transfers dragging luggage; a private car is direct door-to-door and fixed at ¥32,000; for a party of 4 that's ≈¥8,000 each with zero transfers. Per person, one or two travellers with light luggage will still pay less on public transport, and a metered taxi (¥25,000–30,000) can come in under our fixed price too — the private car wins on luggage, group size and not changing trains, not on being the cheapest.
The most direct rail route is the Osaka Metro Chūō Line (OsakaMetro中央線), JR Osaka Loop Line (JR大阪環状線), then the JR Kyoto Line (Special Rapid Service) (JR京都線新快速) — 1–1.5 hr in total with 2 transfer(s), around ¥900–1,700 per person. No reservation needed — just tap a Suica or Pasmo IC card (or buy a paper ticket from the machines) and board any train. The Special Rapid Service carries no surcharge and has no reserved seats — tap an IC card and board. These are the fastest regular trains between Kyoto, Osaka and Kobe. If that works for your group and your luggage, take it — it's cheaper than we are and we'd rather you got there happily than overpaid us.
About 55 min for the roughly 59 km door-to-door. By comparison, the train is 1–1.5 hr with 2 transfers.
A taxi's real advantage is that it's there without booking, and for one or two people with light bags that's often the sensible choice — we won't pretend otherwise. Where it fits less well is the longer run to Kyoto. The fare is metered — for this distance it runs about ¥25,000–30,000 with the expressway tolls and booking fee on top, and the meter climbs higher in heavy traffic or with a 20% night surcharge between 22:00 and 05:00. Booked through an app, the figure you accept at request time is an estimate — the card is charged whatever the meter and the taxi company's pickup fee actually come to. A sedan taxi seats only 4 with room for a bag or two, can't fit a child seat, and with a language barrier it's hard to explain exactly where you need to go. We're fixed at ¥32,000 — a guaranteed all-in price, tolls included and no night surcharge; no pickup fee, no return fee, no clock running at red lights or in traffic, and apart from waiting beyond the free allowance nothing else is ever charged — and you get a premium Alphard or a HiAce (up to 9 passengers), child seats on request, and a driver who picks you up at your door, on time.
You can — Uber Premier uses Alphard-class cars, the same class as the Toyota Alphard we use. The catch on a run this long is the pricing model: it's dynamic, from around ¥22,000 up to ¥33,000 with surge, while we're fixed at ¥32,000 all-in, tolls included, whatever the demand that day. Uber's standard tier (Uber Taxi) simply dispatches a regular metered taxi — about ¥25,000–30,000 plus tolls for this route, billed by the meter plus the taxi company's pickup fee, so the final charge often lands above the in-app estimate. And no Uber tier offers a van for up to 9 passengers. Same class of car either way; what you're choosing with us is one price prepaid at booking — no pickup fee, no return fee, no surge, no clock running at red lights or in traffic, and apart from waiting beyond the free allowance nothing else is ever charged — plus child seats on request (¥2,000 each) and your driver's details on your booking page once assigned.
Before pickup we text or email you a link to your booking page — your driver's name, car and plate once assigned, and a chat with your driver or our team. The driver then meets you at your Tempozan pickup point and loads your luggage. You leave exactly when you want; we handle the route, tolls and parking.
Per seat, the train usually wins on paper — around ¥900–1,700 per person on this route. But one full-size HiAce (up to 9 passengers) is ¥35,000 fixed for the whole vehicle: ¥3,889 per person with 9 aboard, ¥5,833 with 6 — door-to-door, luggage loaded for you, no station transfers. For comparison, the largest car Uber lists at Japan's main airports takes 5 passengers, and jumbo taxis for up to 9 passengers have to be reserved in advance through a taxi company; one HiAce carries up to 9 passengers with 9 large suitcases and 9 carry-ons.
The Alphard seats up to 4 with 4 large suitcases plus personal bags on your lap (with fewer passengers, empty seats carry luggage too: passengers plus large suitcases up to 8); the HiAce seats up to 9 with 9 large suitcases (passengers plus large suitcases up to 18) — a full-size van that Uber and the taxi apps don't offer (their largest options seat 5) and that jumbo taxis only match by advance reservation through a taxi company, so your whole group stays together in one vehicle. We can't see your bags in advance, so if passengers plus large suitcases go over those totals, we'd suggest the HiAce or a second car — a suggestion, not a requirement. Infant and child seats (both forward-facing) and booster cushions are ¥2,000 each and need to be booked in advance.
A private transfer is a direct ride. One short stop on the way — under 30 minutes, such as a photo or a convenience store — can be added with Driver assistance (¥3,000 Alphard / ¥4,000 HiAce) when you book; write the stop in your booking notes. For two or more stops, or any stop of 30 minutes or more, book a private charter by the hour instead — the car waits while you sightsee. On drives of more than two hours, restroom breaks on the way are free.
Every booking includes: a dedicated agent from booking to drop-off; a door pickup confirmed with you in advance; our driver-no-show guarantee — if a driver doesn't show, your ride is free: we refund your fare in full, cover whatever you took instead (taxi, train, no cap), and add ¥10,000. No claim needed; we contact you first. Every booking also includes an English-speaking agent paired with a licensed professional driver; an urgent line on the day (call or WhatsApp +81 70-8830-8866 — we reply in English); and one fixed price with tolls, late-night charges and parking all included.
Cancel 24 hours or more before pickup for a full refund, free of charge — date, time or destination changes in the same window are free as well (any fare difference is settled). Within 24 hours of pickup the fare isn't refundable. Refunds are returned to your original payment method within two weeks.
No — there's no scheduled public bus from Tempozan to Kyoto. The airport limousine that stops at Tempozan (Kaiyukan) runs to Kansai Airport, not to Kyoto. Public transport from Tempozan to Kyoto means the train: a short walk to Osakako Station, the Osaka Metro Chuo Line into central Osaka, then one or more changes onto a Kyoto-bound JR, Hankyu or Keihan train. If you're travelling light, that's the cheapest way and it works fine. If your cruise line sells its own coach transfer to Kyoto, compare that too. With cruise luggage, children or a group, a private car skips the changes: ¥32,000 for up to 4 passengers (Alphard) or ¥35,000 for up to 9 (HiAce), to your Kyoto hotel, tolls included.
Book the time you expect to be out of the Tempozan terminal with your luggage — not the time the ship docks — based on the disembarkation time or group your cruise line gives you. Free waiting on the Tempozan to Kyoto transfer is 30 minutes from your booked pickup time, and we don't track ships the way we track flights. If disembarkation runs late, message us from your booking page or on WhatsApp as early as you can: after the free 30 minutes your driver may have another booking, so waiting longer depends on their schedule. Any extra waiting is ¥6,000 per hour for the Alphard or ¥8,000 for the HiAce, in 15-minute blocks (under 15 minutes is free). If the driver can't wait, we do our best to arrange something; if that isn't possible, the ride is cancelled without a refund. If we can't reach you on any channel, the driver may leave once the free 30 minutes are up, and the booking is treated as a no-show, with no refund.
Book ahead and adjust the time later. You can book online up to 4 hours before pickup (bookings made between 20:00 and 08:00 Japan time can start from 12:00), subject to availability. So if your disembarkation time only reaches you after 20:00 on the last evening, a morning pickup can no longer be booked online — for anything sooner, message us on WhatsApp and we'll check whether a car can be arranged. Up to 24 hours before pickup you can change the time yourself on your booking page free of charge, or cancel for a full refund; inside 24 hours, message us and we'll try, depending on the driver's schedule. Booking more than 48 hours ahead? Reserve now, pay later — ¥0 today. Your card is charged automatically 48 hours before pickup, and cancellation stays free with a full refund until 24 hours before pickup. The Tempozan to Kyoto price stays fixed however late you book — no rush fee and no late-night surcharge.
At the pickup point on your booking — when you book, enter the cruise terminal as your pickup point. While an international cruise ship is in port, the pier and terminal area are restricted under port security rules, so a car can't simply drive up to the gangway; your driver waits at the pickup point instead. Your booking page shows the driver's name, car and plate once assigned. When your driver arrives we'll usually let you know right away, and you can message the driver directly from the booking page — messages are translated automatically — and if anything is unclear, a real person on our team steps in quickly.
Not with this transfer — it's one way, and the car leaves once you're dropped in Kyoto. For a day in Kyoto that ends back at Tempozan, book an hourly charter instead (the Hourly option on the booking page, minimum 8 hours), starting and ending at the cruise terminal: the car and driver stay with you and wait while you visit. Tell us the places you'd like to see and we'll check the driving times fit your hours; drivers know the main sights well and can recommend stops along the way. The ship won't wait, and traffic between Kyoto and the port is outside anyone's control, so we can't promise a return time — plan to be back at Tempozan with a generous margin before all-aboard. Charters can be booked online until 20:00 Japan time the day before, subject to availability; for anything sooner, message us on WhatsApp and we'll check whether a car can be arranged.
Yes. The price you see is the price you pay — tolls, parking, fuel and taxes are all included. Free waiting at pickup is 30 minutes. Tipping is never expected — never required. The only extras are options you choose yourself, such as child seats or waiting beyond the free allowance. After the free 30 minutes your driver may have another booking, so he can wait longer only if his schedule allows — if you might be late, tell us as early as possible; if he can't wait, we do our best to make it work, and if that isn't possible he has to leave and the ride is cancelled without a refund. Any extra waiting is ¥6,000/hour for an Alphard and ¥8,000/hour for a HiAce, in 15-minute blocks (under 15 minutes is free). If we get no reply from you on any channel the day before and on the day itself, the driver may leave once the free 30 minutes are up — that counts as a no-show and is not refunded. Yes. A rydagent.com booking link can carry the whole trip, so you can send it to the person you're booking for, or open one an AI assistant gives you: it opens with the fixed price showing, and nothing is booked until you add your contact details and pay or reserve. For this route with 2 passengers: rydagent.com/en/booking?from=Tempozan&to=Kyoto&pax=2 — it opens at ¥32,000 for an Alphard (up to 4 passengers), tolls included. Add &date=YYYY-MM-DD&time=HH:MM (Japan time, 24-hour clock; for an airport pickup, your landing time) to fill in the day, and change pax for 1–9 passengers — 5 or more selects the HiAce (up to 9 passengers).
