Fukuoka to Yufuin & Beppu: Bus, Train or ¥51,000 Car?

Quick AnswerFrom Fukuoka Airport, RydAgent's fixed price to Yufuin is ¥51,000 for a Toyota Alphard (up to 4 passengers) or ¥59,000 for a Toyota HiAce (up to 9 passengers), about 90 minutes, and to Beppu ¥58,000 / ¥68,000, about 110 minutes — from the arrivals hall to your ryokan door, tolls included. By public transport, the seat-reservation Yufuin-go and Toyonokuni highway buses stop at the airport's international terminal (about 2 hours 25 minutes from Tenjin to Yufuin, 2 hours 49 minutes from Tenjin to Beppu), while the Yufuin no Mori and Sonic trains start at Hakata. One or two travellers with light bags: take the bus. A family, a group of 5 to 9 or a fixed check-in time: take the car. You're always in the loop — AI or a real person responds instantly, so you'll never be left at the airport wondering where your driver is while juggling luggage and family. Book in 30 seconds at rydagent.com. No account, no login.

You land at Fukuoka Airport's international terminal at 11:00 — four of you, four suitcases — and the ryokan in Yufuin expects you for dinner. The highway bus to Yufuin stops right outside, but only if you reserved a seat, and the famous Yufuin no Mori train leaves from Hakata Station, not the airport, three times a day. Here's how the bus, the train and a private car compare for Yufuin and for Beppu: time, booking rules, luggage and price.

Train times are from JR Kyushu's March 2026 timetable; check the current one before you travel. The bus is the cheapest way there, and it leaves from the airport itself. The Yufuin no Mori is a scenic train worth riding once, but it starts at Hakata, so from the airport you begin with a transfer to Hakata Station. The car goes from the arrivals hall to the door of the ryokan — useful because many Yufuin inns are up lanes away from the station. From other Fukuoka hotels the price depends on the distance; the booking page shows it for your address.

Two or more stops, or one of 30 minutes or more (lunch in Yufuin, for example), is booked as a charter: 8 hours from Fukuoka Airport ending at a Beppu ryokan is ¥72,000 for an Alphard or ¥81,000 for a HiAce, with the empty drive back already included. The Airliner bus from Oita Airport to Beppu is ¥1,600 a person, so the bus is far cheaper at almost any group size; the car is for door-to-door with luggage, late flights or a ryokan away from the bus stops.

How late can you book, and what's included?

You can book online until 20:00 Japan time the day before the ride, subject to availability; for a ride sooner than that, message us on WhatsApp and we'll check whether a car can be arranged. Pickups in Yufuin or Beppu for the trip back are more than 50 km from our nearest base, so they also need at least 24 hours' notice. There is no rush fee and no night surcharge.

Your price is all-inclusive: tolls, parking, fuel, taxes, and meet & greet with a name board on airport pickups. The driver contacted us as soon as we landed in Tokyo. He provided clear instructions how to meet after we got our luggage. He had to wait an extra 30 mins since our plane was delayed. Great service, great / clean car and a nice ride to our hotel. Thanks.

— Henry Avetisyan, Jul 2026

My wife and I had a flawless experience using this transfer service from Tokyo's Haneda Airport to Central Tokyo. Although we are in our 70s, we are experienced travelers and usually take public transit or a taxi from airports to hotels. However, this was our first trip to Asia and with a 12-hour flight from Chicago, we decided that we needed to make the hotel transfer easy. And it was. Communication with the company was excellent. They messaged me through WhatsApp several times to make everything was clear. In fact, I messaged them when we landed, that the plane was an hour early and hoped they could pick us up sooner. They responded yes and sure enough our driver,John, was there to meet us past customs. John was very friendly and very professional. His English was excellent. He handled the luggage. The vehicle was comfortable. He made us feel welcome. I highly recommend them and would use them again without hesitation.

Our driver picked us up at our hotel and dropped us at Haneda Airport Departures (Terminal 3) as requested. It was a very comfortable and safe ride and the vehicle was very clean and spacious. Thank you so much!

— Valerie Pendon, Jun 2026

Great experience using this private transfer from our hotel to Haneda Airport. Booking was easy, and when we needed to adjust our pickup time, the operator was very responsive. The driver arrived on time and the ride was smooth and stress-free. Would definitely use again.

Professional service that takes the stress out of airport transfers. Our family has been to Tokyo a few times. Airport transfer by train, taxi, and private car. This service is good value, especially for groups. We had a very comfortable and well kept vehicle. Driver was very professional, polite, and easy to work with. We had an hour long flight delay and sat on the runway for 20 minutes after landing. This service was very flexible and helpful through the situation. Driver was patiently waiting when we arrived.

— Mark OBrien, Jun 2026

Karazawa Ryou was our driver. He texted us his contact info via Whatsap the day before our flight. In between flights, we learned that our connecting flight had been delayed. Instead of arriving at 9:15pm, we would now be arriving at I1:30pm. Such a significant amount of delay time...plus, arriving so much LATER at night, I was worried that our driver would no longer be able to pick us up. I notified him, and he responded, "Don't worry. I'll wait for you. See you later." He even included a smiley face! I went from panic to peace in an instant. As we were exiting the plane, I received a text from him notifying me that we had landed at Terminal 2, so it would be quicker to get out. I should let him know once we had picked up our luggage, and he would be at the exit within one minute with a sign. I was pleasantly surprised at how smoothly this process went, and the SUV exceeded my expectations. It was lush and immaculately clean. I commend the driver on his professionalism and would not hesitate to hire him again. This experience was BETTER THAN PERFECT!

— Cheryl FitzGerald, May 2026
