This was such an easy stress free experience. I have taken many airport transfers and this was by far the easiest and most efficient experience I have ever had. The communication was frequent and proactive. I cannot say enough about this company. 100% recommend
Do I need to tip my RydAgent driver?
Last updated:
No — with RydAgent, no tipping expected — never required. Japan has no tipping culture, and your fixed price already covers the ride: tolls, parking, fuel and taxes are included, and there's no service charge or gratuity line added at the end. Your driver won't ask for a tip. If you'd still like to give something to say thank you, that's entirely up to you; it's welcome, but nobody expects it.
What to expect at the end of your ride
- 1
Your fare is already paid
The ride is paid online when you book, or charged 48 hours before pickup with Reserve now, pay later.
- 2
Nothing to add
There's no tip screen, no service charge and no gratuity line. When you arrive, you're free to go.
- 3
A thank-you is plenty
A simple “arigatou gozaimasu” goes a long way in Japan. Giving a tip is your choice, never an obligation.
Is a tip built into the price?
No. Nothing is added for a tip — it simply isn't part of the price. The fixed price covers the car, your driver, tolls, parking, fuel and taxes.
Should I tip if my driver waits longer?
No. Waiting past the free time is charged at a set rate if you ask for it — ¥6,000 an hour for an Alphard or ¥8,000 for a HiAce, in 15-minute blocks — so there's no need to make up for it with a tip. You pay it your way: cash to your driver, a card payment link on the spot, or the same link later, once you're settled at your hotel.
What if my driver asks for a tip?
They shouldn't: drivers aren't allowed to ask for tips. If it happens, tell us in the chat on your booking page or by replying to your booking email, with your booking number.
