GREEN×EXPO 2027 Access: Shuttle, Taxi or Private Car?
GREEN×EXPO 2027, the international horticultural expo, opens on Friday 19 March 2027 on the former Kamiseya communications site in Yokohama's Seya and Asahi wards — and there is no station at the gate. The organiser wants most visitors on reserved shuttle buses, asks drivers to pre-book parking, and asks everyone not to drop off or pick up on the surrounding roads. Here is what the official plan says, where a taxi or a private car fits, and what is still to be announced.

How do you get to GREEN×EXPO 2027?
The expo is open from 9:30 to 21:30 for 192 days, and the organiser's plan expects visitors from all over the Tokyo area, with overseas visitors coming from hotels in and around Tokyo. These are the official options as of November 2026:
| Option | Reservation | Where from | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Four-station shuttle bus | Required | Seya and Mitsukyo (Sotetsu Line), Minami-machida Grandberry Park (Tokyu Den-en-toshi Line), Tokaichiba (JR Yokohama Line) | About 10–25 minutes to the venue; runs 8:30–22:30 |
| Direct bus | To be announced | Shin-Yokohama, Yokohama Station, Minato Mirai / Kannai, Haneda Airport | Operators, timetables and fares not yet published |
| Car (your own or a rental) | Required (North and West car parks) | Tomei Expressway Yokohama-Machida IC, Hodogaya Bypass Kamikawai IC | No drop-offs or pick-ups on the roads around the venue |
| Park-and-ride | Required | AEON Mall Yamato, Ito-Yokado Yamato-Tsuruma, Sagami-Ono | Peak days only |
| Taxi or hire car | See below | Anywhere | Taxi terminal near the Main Gate in the official plan |
| Bicycle or on foot | No | Seya, the nearest station, for walkers | Free bicycle parking next to the venue |
Shuttle and parking reservations opened on 18 September 2026, and entry tickets need a date-and-time reservation too. Per the official access page, the four-station shuttle is ¥200 per adult, and a parking space for a car is ¥5,000 on weekdays or ¥7,000 on weekends and holidays.
Can a taxi or private car drop you at the gate?
Here is what is official, and what isn't yet.
- In the plan: the Visitor Transport Implementation Plan (3rd edition, July 2026) puts a taxi terminal near the Main Gate inside the venue terminal, with pick-up and drop-off space for regular taxis, welfare taxis and hire cars, and several cars loading at once. The organiser is also working with ride-hailing apps so that pick-ups can't be set on the surrounding roads, with separate designated pick-up points.
- On the access page: the organiser asks visitors not to drop off or pick up anyone on the roads around the venue, and its plan is to put no-stopping restrictions there.
- Not yet published (November 2026): whether hire cars need to register in advance, and where a car can wait during your visit. The 4th edition of the plan is due around December 2026.
What that means for a booking: RydAgent arranges licensed commercial vehicles (green plates) and professional drivers, and the driver uses whichever drop-off and pick-up point the venue assigns to vehicles like ours on the day, not the roadside. Check the official access page shortly before your visit, and tell us your entry time slot when you book.
Private car, taxi or shuttle — which suits your group?
| You are… | Better choice | Why |
|---|---|---|
| One or two adults staying in Yokohama or near the Sotetsu, Tokyu or JR Yokohama lines | Shuttle bus | Cheapest, and the organiser's main route; reserve your slot early |
| A family with toddlers, a stroller or grandparents | Private car | No train-to-bus change at a crowded station; the plan positions taxis for people who find the shuttle hard to use |
| A group of 5 to 9 from central Tokyo | One HiAce | ¥26,000 per vehicle — about ¥2,889 each when nine travel together |
| Arriving at Haneda on the day | Car to the hotel first | Haneda to Yokohama is ¥17,000 for an Alphard; leave the suitcases at the hotel before the expo |
| Driving yourself | Book parking first | The North and West car parks take reservations only |
Groups are where a private car is hardest to replace. For comparison, the largest car Uber lists at Japan's main airports takes 5 passengers, and 9-seat jumbo taxis must be reserved in advance, while one HiAce carries up to 9 passengers with 9 large suitcases and 9 carry-ons. Child seats are ¥2,000 each, requested at booking.
What does a private car to GREEN×EXPO cost?
Fixed per vehicle, with tolls, parking, fuel and taxes included. Enter the venue as Kamiseya, Seya Ward, Yokohama on the booking page:
| From | Toyota Alphard (up to 4 passengers) | Toyota HiAce (up to 9 passengers) |
|---|---|---|
| Haneda Airport | ¥17,000 | ¥21,000 |
| Narita Airport | ¥33,000 | ¥33,000 |
| Yokohama Station, Minato Mirai or Shin-Yokohama | ¥16,000 | ¥20,000 |
| Central Tokyo (23 wards) | ¥23,000 | ¥26,000 |
For a day trip from central Tokyo, book two one-way transfers — there in the morning and back in the evening — for ¥46,000 in an Alphard or ¥52,000 in a HiAce. That's simpler than an hourly charter here, because where hire cars can wait during your visit hasn't been announced. Free waiting is 30 minutes from the booked time on these transfers, or 90 minutes from actual landing on an airport pickup timed to your flight. Delays happen on peak days, so message us through your booking page if your exit time changes.
How late can you book?
The venue, Yokohama, central Tokyo, Haneda and Narita are all in the Tokyo area, so the same rule applies to the ride there and the ride back: you can book online up to 4 hours before pickup (bookings made between 20:00 and 08:00 Japan time can start from 12:00), subject to availability. There is no rush fee and no night surcharge. For the 19 peak days, book as soon as your entry slot is confirmed — Reserve now, pay later costs ¥0 today, and cancellation stays free with a full refund until 24 hours before pickup.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the shuttle bus or a private car better for getting to GREEN×EXPO 2027?
For most visitors, the shuttle: the organiser runs reserved shuttle buses from four nearby stations — Seya, Mitsukyo, Minami-machida Grandberry Park and Tokaichiba — taking about 10 to 25 minutes to the venue. A private car suits families with small children, older travellers, groups of 5 to 9 and anyone coming straight from the airport: RydAgent's fixed price from Haneda to the venue area is ¥17,000 for a Toyota Alphard (up to 4 passengers) or ¥21,000 for a Toyota HiAce (up to 9 passengers).
Is there a train station at GREEN×EXPO 2027?
No. No railway reaches the venue, the former Kamiseya communications site in Yokohama's Seya and Asahi wards. The organiser's plan has visitors ride a train to one of four nearby stations and a reserved shuttle bus from there, or come by the planned direct buses, by car with pre-booked parking, by bicycle or on foot from Seya Station.
Can a taxi or private car drop you off at GREEN×EXPO 2027?
The organiser's Visitor Transport Implementation Plan (3rd edition, July 2026) puts a taxi terminal near the Main Gate with pick-up and drop-off space for taxis, welfare taxis and hire cars, and asks visitors not to drop off or pick up on the roads around the venue. The detailed rules for hire cars had not been published as of November 2026, so check the official access page before your visit; the driver follows whatever the venue assigns.
Do I need to reserve the shuttle bus or parking for GREEN×EXPO 2027?
Yes. The four-station shuttle buses, the North and West car parks and the peak-day park-and-ride car parks are all reservation-only, and reservations opened on 18 September 2026. Entry tickets also need a date-and-time reservation.
How much is a private car to GREEN×EXPO 2027 from Tokyo?
From central Tokyo (the 23 wards), RydAgent's price to the venue area is ¥23,000 for an Alphard or ¥26,000 for a HiAce. From Yokohama Station, Minato Mirai or Shin-Yokohama it's ¥16,000 / ¥20,000, and from Narita ¥33,000 for either vehicle. Prices are per vehicle, not per person, with tolls, parking, fuel and taxes included.
When are the busiest days at GREEN×EXPO 2027?
The organiser's peak days, when it also runs park-and-ride, are 29 April; 2, 3, 23, 29 and 30 May; 6 and 13 June; 14 and 15 August; and 4, 11, 12, 18, 19, 20, 23, 25 and 26 September 2027. Its plan allows for up to about 105,000 visitors a day at the peaks.
Can a car wait for us while we visit GREEN×EXPO 2027?
Plan on two one-way transfers instead. Where hire cars can wait during a visit hasn't been announced, and the expo is open from 9:30 to 21:30. Book the drop-off and the pick-up as separate transfers; on a transfer that isn't an airport pickup, free waiting is 30 minutes from the booked time.
