Seasonal Guide: When to Visit Where
Ski Season (December – March)
Hokkaido is famous for some of the driest, lightest powder snow on earth. The main resort runs are the New Chitose to Niseko corridor (about 2 hrs; about 2 hrs 45 min in winter), the New Chitose to Hoshino Resorts Tomamu route (about 100 min), and the New Chitose to Furano route for powder plus mid-price lift tickets. During peak ski season (late December through February), roads can be snowy and icy — driving times increase. Lavender Season (July)

Is there a direct bus to Niseko from the airport?
There is a seasonal bus, but it runs on a fixed schedule, takes 2.5-3 hours, and doesn't go door-to-door. If your flight is delayed, you miss the bus. A private Chitose-to-Niseko transfer waits for you and takes you directly to your lodge or hotel. For Hoshino Resorts guests, the Chitose-to-Tomamu route is about a 100-minute drive and skips the bus entirely.
