Quick AnswerBy public transport, the usual way from New Chitose Airport to Tomamu is JR: ¥4,230 per adult including a reserved limited-express seat, 1 hour 7–25 minutes with one change at Minami-Chitose, and the resort's shuttle bus meets you at Tomamu Station — about 5 minutes to Tomamu The Tower and 10 to RISONARE Tomamu. Hokkaido Access Network also runs a reservation-only Resort Liner bus from the airport, daily from 1 December 2026. For one to three people travelling light, the train is the sensible choice; with ski bags, children or a late flight, a private car saves the change at Minami-Chitose and the shuttle transfer. A RydAgent private car from New Chitose Airport to Tomamu is a fixed ¥70,000 per Toyota Alphard (up to 4 passengers) or ¥77,000 per Toyota HiAce (up to 9 passengers), about 100 minutes door to door to RISONARE Tomamu, Tomamu The Tower or Club Med — and the same ¥70,000 / ¥77,000 from central Sapporo. You’re always in the loop — AI or a real person responds instantly, so you’re never left wondering where your driver is. Book in 30 seconds at rydagent.com — no sign-up, no login required.

About Tomamu

Hoshino Resorts Tomamu is a mountain resort in Shimukappu village, in the middle of Hokkaido, on the JR line from Sapporo towards Obihiro and Kushiro. Its ski area has 29 courses, 5 lifts and a gondola, a longest run of 4,200 m and a summit at 1,171 m (base 586 m). Guests stay at the resort's own hotels — RISONARE Tomamu and Tomamu The Tower — or at Club Med Tomamu Hokkaido beside them, and Tomamu Station is 5–10 minutes away on the resort's shuttle bus. In summer the same mountain is known for the Unkai Terrace, a viewpoint above the sea of clouds.

When to Visit

Spring

The ski area is scheduled to run until 5 April 2027. RISONARE Tomamu's winter season ends with check-out on 1 April and Tomamu The Tower's on 5 April; the Resort Liner's last run from the airport is on 30 March.

Summer

The summer season brings the Unkai Terrace: in 2026 it opened from 13 May to 13 October, and the resort puts the chance of seeing a sea of clouds at about 40% over that period. It reopens on 13 May 2027.

Autumn

The 2026 summer season at both hotels ended on 1 November; the winter season begins on 1 December.

Winter

The ski area is scheduled to open on 1 December 2026, together with the Frost Tree Terrace at 1,088 m. Ice Village — domes of ice that appear on winter nights — is planned from 20 December 2026 to 10 March 2027.

What to Do

  • ◆29 courses with a 4,200 m longest run and 585 m of vertical (summit 1,171 m, base 586 m).
  • ◆The Frost Tree Terrace at 1,088 m, where moisture in the air freezes on the trees into glittering rime (1 December 2026 – 5 April 2027).
  • ◆Ice Village, a cluster of ice domes that appears on winter nights (20 December 2026 – 10 March 2027, planned).
  • ◆Club Med Tomamu Hokkaido is all-inclusive: meals, drinks and ski lessons are part of the price, with the slopes right in front.

From New Chitose Airport

Take JR if you are one to three people with light luggage: it is ¥4,230 each, and the train itself is faster than the car. Book a RydAgent private car when you have ski bags and children, when your flight lands late or might be delayed (90 minutes' free waiting from actual landing), or when your group wants one vehicle to the hotel door (one HiAce takes up to 6 skiers with a suitcase and a ski bag each).

From Sapporo (your hotel)

From Sapporo Station, JR's limited expresses reach Tomamu without a change (every seat is reserved, and not every train stops at Tomamu), and the reservation-only Resort Liner stops at a list of Sapporo hotels. A RydAgent private car leaves from any address in central Sapporo at the time you choose, for the same fixed price back to Sapporo.

New Chitose Airport to Tomamu: train, bus or private car?

If you can manage your bags through one change at Minami-Chitose, JR works well: ¥4,230 per adult with a reserved limited-express seat, 1 hour 7–25 minutes to Tomamu Station, then the resort's shuttle bus. Hokkaido Access Network's Resort Liner is reservation-only and runs daily from 1 December 2026; Club Med sells its own transfer to its guests. A RydAgent private car takes about 100 minutes door to door for ¥70,000 per Toyota Alphard (up to 4 passengers) or ¥77,000 per Toyota HiAce (up to 9 passengers).

RydAgent private carLicensed commercial vehicles (green plates) and professional driversAbout 100 min, door to door¥70,000 per car (Alphard, up to 4 passengers) · ¥77,000 per car (HiAce, up to 9 passengers)Fixed price per car, the same to RISONARE Tomamu, Tomamu The Tower and Club Med; flight tracked, 90 minutes' free waiting from actual landing; studless winter tyres as standard in the snow season, nothing to request.

By train, 4 adults pay ¥16,920 and 6 adults ¥25,380 — far less than a RydAgent private car at ¥70,000 per Alphard or ¥77,000 per HiAce, and the train itself is faster than the car. What a private car adds is the whole trip in one vehicle: skis and suitcases go from the arrivals hall to the hotel door with no change at Minami-Chitose and no shuttle, and the pickup follows your actual landing. With a suitcase and a ski bag each, we recommend the HiAce for three or more skiers; one HiAce takes up to six.

Booking with RydAgent: what you get

  • Fixed price per car: tolls, parking, fuel and taxes included, no late-night surcharge or rush fee, and tipping is never expected.
  • Free waiting: 90 minutes from actual landing on airport pickups — your driver tracks the flight — and 30 minutes on other transfers; after that, ¥6,000 per hour for an Alphard or ¥8,000 for a HiAce, in 15-minute blocks (under 15 minutes is free). On hourly charters, waiting is part of your booked hours.
  • Toyota Alphard: up to 4 passengers and 4 large suitcases. Toyota HiAce: up to 9 passengers and 9 large suitcases. Fewer passengers, more room: empty seats carry luggage (passengers + large bags up to 8 in the Alphard, 18 in the HiAce). Ski and snowboard bags count as large bags: with a suitcase and a ski bag each, an Alphard suits up to two skiers, so for three or more we recommend the HiAce; one HiAce suits up to six of them, and for seven or more we recommend a second car or sending bags ahead. Tell us how many bags and how long they are when you book.
  • Child seats ¥2,000 each — requested at booking and fitted before pickup.
  • Book online in 30 seconds with no account or login. Every ride can be booked online until 20:00 Japan time the day before, subject to availability; pickups more than 50 km from the nearest partner base — most ski resorts and mountain villages — also need 24 hours' notice. For a same-day ride, message us on WhatsApp and we'll see whether a car can be arranged.
  • Free cancellation or changes up to 24 hours before pickup. If the airline cancels your flight or moves it to another day, you choose a free change or a full refund — even inside 24 hours (airport rides booked with a flight number).
  • Licensed commercial vehicles (green plates) and professional drivers, with commercial passenger insurance — including rides run by partner companies.
  • Booking and support in English. Most drivers have basic English and use a translation app to communicate; an English-speaking driver can be requested for 20% extra.

Frequently Asked Questions

One Toyota HiAce: with a suitcase and a ski bag each, one HiAce takes up to 6 skiers. RydAgent's fixed price from New Chitose Airport to Tomamu is ¥77,000 per HiAce (up to 9 passengers), about 100 minutes door to door, the same to RISONARE Tomamu, Tomamu The Tower and Club Med. By train the six of you would pay ¥25,380 in total (¥4,230 each), change at Minami-Chitose with your bags and take the resort shuttle from Tomamu Station. Seven or more skiers: book a second car or send bags ahead.

For one to three people with light luggage, the train: ¥4,230 per adult with a reserved limited-express seat, 1 hour 7–25 minutes with one change at Minami-Chitose, then the resort's shuttle bus from Tomamu Station. A RydAgent private car — ¥70,000 per Toyota Alphard (up to 4 passengers), ¥77,000 per Toyota HiAce (up to 9 passengers) — is worth it for families and groups with ski bags, for late or delay-prone flights, or when you'd rather not change trains with luggage.

JR's Ozora and Tokachi limited expresses run from Sapporo Station to Tomamu without a change. Every seat is reserved, and not every train stops at Tomamu (JR Hokkaido dropped the Tomamu stop from two evening trains in March 2025), so check JR Hokkaido's timetable, then take the resort's shuttle bus from the station. Hokkaido Access Network's reservation-only Resort Liner runs daily from 1 December 2026, in principle for guests of the Sapporo hotels it stops at. A RydAgent private car from central Sapporo is a fixed ¥70,000 per Toyota Alphard (up to 4 passengers) or ¥77,000 per Toyota HiAce (up to 9 passengers), door to door.

Yes. Hokkaido Access Network's Hokkaido Resort Liner runs daily from 1 December 2026 to 30 March 2027 (back to the airport until 31 March). Every seat must be reserved; the operator asks you to allow 45 minutes after a domestic landing and 90 minutes after an international one, and it does not check connections. Fares and times are on the operator's site. Club Med guests can also book Club Med's own airport transfer.

Yes. Ski and snowboard bags count as large luggage: an Alphard takes up to 4 passengers and 4 large suitcases, and a HiAce up to 9 and 9 with every seat taken; with fewer passengers, empty seats carry luggage too (passengers plus large bags up to 8 in the Alphard, 18 in the HiAce). So with a suitcase and a ski bag each, an Alphard suits up to two skiers and for three or more we recommend the HiAce; one HiAce suits up to six, and for seven or more we recommend a second car or sending bags ahead. Tell us how many bags and how long they are when you book.

Winter tyres, yes: from November to April, the snow season, every car we arrange runs on studless winter tyres as standard, so there is nothing to request and nothing to write in the booking notes. We don't promise tyre chains; that depends on the vehicle on the day.

Rides between New Chitose Airport or Sapporo and Tomamu can be booked online until 20:00 Japan time the day before, subject to availability. Rides that start at Tomamu — the way back — also need at least 24 hours' notice, because the resort is more than 50 km from the nearest partner base. For anything sooner, message us on WhatsApp and we'll check whether a car can be arranged.

— J C

The driver contacted us as soon as we landed in Tokyo. He provided clear instructions how to meet after we got our luggage. He had to wait an extra 30 mins since our plane was delayed. Great service, great / clean car and a nice ride to our hotel. Thanks.

— Henry Avetisyan, Jul 2026

My wife and I had a flawless experience using this transfer service from Tokyo's Haneda Airport to Central Tokyo. Although we are in our 70s, we are experienced travelers and usually take public transit or a taxi from airports to hotels. However, this was our first trip to Asia and with a 12-hour flight from Chicago, we decided that we needed to make the hotel transfer easy. And it was. Communication with the company was excellent. They messaged me through WhatsApp several times to make everything was clear. In fact, I messaged them when we landed, that the plane was an hour early and hoped they could pick us up sooner. They responded yes and sure enough our driver,John, was there to meet us past customs. John was very friendly and very professional. His English was excellent. He handled the luggage. The vehicle was comfortable. He made us feel welcome. I highly recommend them and would use them again without hesitation.

— S Lund, May 2026

— Michael Bakov, Jul 2026

Our driver picked us up at our hotel and dropped us at Haneda Airport Departures (Terminal 3) as requested. It was a very comfortable and safe ride and the vehicle was very clean and spacious. Thank you so much!

— Valerie Pendon, Jun 2026

Great experience using this private transfer from our hotel to Haneda Airport. Booking was easy, and when we needed to adjust our pickup time, the operator was very responsive. The driver arrived on time and the ride was smooth and stress-free. Would definitely use again.

— Karen Kiefer-Fujimoto, Jun 2026

Professional service that takes the stress out of airport transfers. Our family has been to Tokyo a few times. Airport transfer by train, taxi, and private car. This service is good value, especially for groups. We had a very comfortable and well kept vehicle. Driver was very professional, polite, and easy to work with. We had an hour long flight delay and sat on the runway for 20 minutes after landing. This service was very flexible and helpful through the situation. Driver was patiently waiting when we arrived.

— Mark OBrien, Jun 2026

Karazawa Ryou was our driver. He texted us his contact info via Whatsap the day before our flight. In between flights, we learned that our connecting flight had been delayed. Instead of arriving at 9:15pm, we would now be arriving at I1:30pm. Such a significant amount of delay time...plus, arriving so much LATER at night, I was worried that our driver would no longer be able to pick us up. I notified him, and he responded, "Don't worry. I'll wait for you. See you later." He even included a smiley face! I went from panic to peace in an instant. As we were exiting the plane, I received a text from him notifying me that we had landed at Terminal 2, so it would be quicker to get out. I should let him know once we had picked up our luggage, and he would be at the exit within one minute with a sign. I was pleasantly surprised at how smoothly this process went, and the SUV exceeded my expectations. It was lush and immaculately clean. I commend the driver on his professionalism and would not hesitate to hire him again. This experience was BETTER THAN PERFECT!

— Cheryl FitzGerald, May 2026

Very nice transfer service. Very helpful and most pleasant experience. Would use them again.

— William Thornton BC Guide Dogs, May 2026
